About Us

In a time when public discourse is increasingly shaped by speed, spectacle, and simplification, The Social Sight seeks to slow things down — to think, to question, and to understand. The Social Sight is an independent, bilingual platform committed to serious writing on society, power, law, economy, culture, science, and civilisation. We publish in-depth articles in both English and Hindi, recognising that meaningful public debate must speak across languages and reach beyond narrow linguistic spheres.

Our focus is not on reacting to the news cycle, but on offering context, depth, and long-term perspective. We engage with issues that often remain under-examined or inadequately framed in mainstream media, and present them with intellectual rigour and clarity. We believe that democracy is more than elections, the economy more than numbers, law more than statutes, and culture more than entertainment.

From governance and political institutions to markets, labour, and social stratification; from constitutional values and civil liberties to questions of justice and reform; from civilisational thought and historical memory to science, technology, climate, and the future — The Social Sight brings these conversations together under one thoughtful lens. At our core lies a commitment to ideas. We engage with literature, cinema, language, media, and popular culture not as isolated domains, but as forces that shape social consciousness. We examine India’s place in the world — its global engagements, conflicts, and diplomacy — with an awareness of both history and contemporary realities.

The Social Sight is also a space for voices — opinions, essays, columns, interviews, and responses written with sincerity, intellectual honesty, and respect for plurality. We encourage disagreement, but never intellectual laziness. Our aim is simple yet demanding: to cultivate a readership that values depth over noise, inquiry over outrage, and understanding over instant judgment. The Social Sight invites its readers to see society not merely as it appears, but as it truly is — complex, layered, and worthy of serious attention. The Social Sight is published by Bihar-Jharkhand Nirman Manch, an earlier publisher of Sahyatri / Vikas Sahyatri Hindi Magazine which remained in active publication from 2000 to 2016. This platform can be considered its new digital avatar.
